It's important to recognise that this proposal sits outside the settlement boundary of Wanborough and is in conflict with the Local Plan and Strategy, and is NOT an area allocated for development and a further 275 home creep along the A419 is not a necessary, or indeed permitted, addition to the New Eastern Village (NEV) 9000+ homes selected for housing growth in Eastern Swindon.

Objecting to the development

The Planning Inspector will have a copy of any previous objection letter(s) submitted to the Borough council. You can write further objections directly to the Inspector as long as they are confined to new information. The puchase of the Honda Site by Panettoni materially changes the availability of employment land in Swindon. Learn how to use this to generate a follow up objection letter now.

South Swindon Protection Group

Action Group opposed to the development of land in the non coalescent area or joining the AONB in the South Swindon Area. In particular, the group is opposed to the Inlands Farm development, for a commercial distribution and manufacturing park, which will be detrimental to village life, bring air noise and light pollution as well as traffic and environmental impacts.

Over 600 formal objection letters received against the Science Park

OVER 600 OBJECTIONS to the proposed industrial development at Inlands Farm, Lower Wanborough,have been lodged on Swindon Borough Council's Planning site….with only one single “for” the proposal. The vast majority are residents with around 30 consultee responses too. This is a fantastic result and the highest ever received into SBC for an individual planning submission and our thanks to everyone who put in the effort to register their concerns.

Even though the “deadline” for objections has passed - they are still coming in. SBC are required to take objections up to the time they make their planning decision so it is not too late to register your objection!

250 residents brave the cold to protest against the proposed science park

Around 250 residents of Wanborough, Liddington and other eastern villages gathered in Lower Wanborough to protest the proposed industrial development in Lower Wanborough.

Braving the cold weather, people marched to the proposed site at Inlands Farm They lined up to show the expected size of the warehouse and distribution centre of what is being billed as a 'Science Park.'

This was the first of many planned demonstrations by the recently formed South Swindon Protection Group who oppose the planned development adjoining Pack Hill and the Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Local resident, Richard Angwin said, 'I have had a house in the village for nearly 15 years. It is a beautiful, tranquil place to live and this massive warehouse development will do nothing to enhance the area. We anticipate serious noise and light pollution as well as major access problems coming on and off the Commonhead Roundabout, the A419 and access to the M4.'

Campaign to oppose the Inlands Farm development gathers momentum

The SSPG action group, formed to protect the rural landscapes to the East of Swindon, continue in their quest to raise awareness of this proposed industrial estate - bringing attention to the adverse and irrecoverable impact on landscape and way of life in South Swindon.

Some 200 people listened to John Warr at a packed Wanborough Village Hall on 10th Jan. See seperate release.
The SSPG facebook page already has 200 members and is growing rapidly.
Donations are pouing in and the SSPG funds are now over £3,800. Thanks to all who have donated and please continue to give generously. Our target is £10,000.

A packed Wanborough Village Hall for latest update in Inlands Farm Science Park Application

Over 200 people turned out on 10th January at Wanborough village hall to hear the second update from John Warr, Gary Sumner and Linda Cripps on the hybrid planning application submitted to Swindon Borough Council (SBC) by Wasdell just before Christmas - trying to sell itself as a ‘Science Park’ on the edge of Wanborough. The proposal included some 184 documents. With objections needing to be raised by 31st January, and festivities in between, the SSPG applied for an extension to give everyone more time to read and understand the proposal.
